Cape Fear River Wood Products, LLC was formed in January 2008 by husband and wife team Jesse and Anna Jarrell. Based in Navassa, North Carolina (a small mill town just 5 miles from downtown Wilmington) they are the new generation to take on retrieval from the Cape Fear River. Using historical maps, sonar, and a crane, they retrieve old sinker logs that were lost in transit to the mills over 100 years ago. In addition to traditional hardwoods, Cape Fear Riverwood retrieves antique heart pine from old barns and mills that are being torn down. The wood is then milled into traditional tongue and groove flooring, paneling, beams and mantel pieces.
Jesse and Anna are committed to promoting green business practices. In that spirit, scrap material is made into adirondack chairs and beautiful butcher block counter-tops. The sawdust is even used by local horse farmers.
